The New World team has shared an updated roadmap, along with the latest dev update video. The video and roadmap cover the return of the Winter Convergence Festival, territory changes the make things fairer, and a peek at major planned updated through next summer.

What did you expect from an inept studio?

For the year ahead, this is a very scarce roadmap. I would expect some big changes or additions.
When I played the game during the test periods, it felt so boring and empty, like there was nothing to do and what little there was, was so boring.
Yeah, that's it. After the Summer 2023 update they will cease all development.
Or, and this is just common sense, they are not ready to reveal plans for Fall 2023 and Winter 2024.
You mean the two major updates for the first 6 months? You know a major patch for each quarter which is the exact same system that many MMO's follow?
Yep, that is so slack and inept I guess.
half of 2023***
but most of the things they are adding in these are pretty hefty changes that take a lot of resources and time, so i'm actually not seeing a problem with it.

I'm back playing the game, and from what I can see, many of these things on the roadmap will be welcome changes. If anything, I wish that the cross-server instanced content was coming a little earlier than it seems to be, as that's the real pain point in the game right now.
Brimstone Sands was a radical improvement to the endgame content, in my opinion, and that was after I quit the game (several months after release) and kind of felt like I'd never return. I'm very glad that I did come back, as I'm back having a great time again.
Knowledgeable salt with details would be fine. It's the clueless dumbass salt that fills any NW thread from the same crowd, saying the same things that is boring as hell.

Thank you, I thought I would be alone. All this sorrow made me feel embarrassed to be here. Sad comments from strange beings.

It was not strange they did not announce who they were, the ineptitude was down to who made the video. The last one I watched had "names and roles script" as the person came into frame. Quite reasonably they must have just assumed that was going to happen. It is a small mistake, so I think you can read too much into it. But it is something they should make sure is there for the future, it is really helpful.
Yeah, I guess by "inept" he means providing for free an expansion that would be a paying DLC in most other games. They are indeed "inept" at earning money... kinda...

Yeah, so many people not even playing the game, and who never actually even bought it, know so much more about it than those who are actually playing... it's really amazing.
But we are on the Internet... where everyone is a lawyer, developer, MD, rocket scientist, etc... so why not a New World specialist, too.

After years of dealing with the Smedster, I can say without doubt that is not him.
And not saying their names is smart. So when whatever they say is coming don't come, noone can blame them personally.

Many things that have improved the game since last fall are not even big-ticket items that are roadmap headliners. Things like the fast travel azoth cap, and the removal of stagger mechanics from many mobs' attacks don't get the hype but are actually more impactful to the game experience than many of the things that get featured.

If they ever add mounts, I hope it will be that way.
A mix between Ultima Online and Black Desert would be awesome !

I am currently lvl 57, has not completed my mainstory, and there are litterally quests everywhere now. whenever you go into a new zone and do a quest, many more will pop up in the same zone. i had 1 quest to cutlass keys, but when i got there and turned it in, 4 yeloow quests popped up, and it kept in like this in every zone so far, i have left zones wiht more than 4-6 yelllow markers im ignoring in each zone.
apparently you cant abandon them, so i see yellow everywhere, a bit too much even. but nice its there.
They have also made a music system. which buff players if they tip, and i can okay the song well enough. quite fun indeed.
Alot has changed, but it is still the same game. it does seem the devs are going in the direction of filling the "sandbox" with more "features/discrete changes. /(like the speedrun buff you get now for running on roads) all in all, i have enjoyed it much more than exspected, and must admit...
i havent even logged in to try the new wow xpac. im simply having more fun in new world now. than i did before.
It would be a bit challenging to create properly, probably have to be limited to certain animal types, say large carnivores else people would be trying to utilize their attack bunnies of death or something else silly.
Could be cool to add as a mount taming skill as well that could be given to everyone as was mentioned by @The_Korrigan
