It's a fun lil gem and a cross between D3 and a solo friendy online MMO. Housing, jobs, crafting, upgrading. A dual class system a bit like the old SWG. The cash shop is not needed just looks and mounts. It does get very complex with the synergy later on.

It's totally free to play. And u don't need the cash shop it is, however, a 2d view game.

It's an OK game.  Reinstalled it the other day.  At this point though it's pretty dead in the water.  The original devs, Insel Games ran most of the players off, then they got removed from Steam for writing their own "good" reviews.

Gameforge did change a few things, it seemed a little more stable also.  Don't really see this game making a comeback though.  One of the really frustrating things is they want you to spend real world money to reset skills if you decide down the road that you don't like your build.  You can't do that with a game that is already trying to hold onto whatever players you can get.

It has some fun things like mixing classes.  You can just about solo the entire game with maybe the exception of the highest tier dungeons.

Overall though if you played it in the past then I wouldn't recommend reinstalling it at this point.  If you had the steam version you can still run that one.  If you don't an did want to give it a try you have to download it from the devs directly as it isn't allowed on Steam anymore even though it was sold to new devs.
