I have the original, should i wait to get nightfall before coming back?

I barely played the game since other MMOs took me over shortly after its release. I only have the original GW and was wondering how much of a disadvantage I would be at in PVP without Nightfall and Factions.

Well, out of the current 1400 available skills, your now missing half of them (core and each chapter being a quarter of the available skills each), so in a nutshell, unless you had all three chapters, you couldn't competitively play gvg for my guild for instance, although you could play for the back up test team (which is a great way to train and get better and unlock skills through pvp if and when you get the other chapters)

Also remember, they are adding 100 PvE skills and 50 new PvP skills in eye of the North later this year

If you're only playing in PvP, i recommend just getting the PvP packs and adding their keys to your account. Getting Factions and Nightfall PvP packs will net you all the skills for use in PvP only, ofcourse. Now you're caught up!

Nah, although great (and i have them anyway as it unlocks all non elites at the skill traders straight away), they are considerably more expensive than just buying the retail boxes from a shop now

True, i've seen some of the new prices. In another post, i mentioned that at Sam's, they're selling all 3 games for 49.99.

ya. i saw that deal too. I might as well lay down the cash for it to get factions + nightfall. Sounds like I'd be too disadvantaged. Pity though.. i just beat the proph campaign last night and am a bit bored now. Getting plowed over in PVP but thats probably because of a  lack of experience too. No worries, paycheck comes soon.

Meh, I have to disagree. You're not gimped if you only have 1 campaign. All you have is fewer alternatives. The only disadvantage you could have is not knowing the new skills and thus being unable to correctly react to them.

Yeah, most of the time, the skills in one campaign are the same as older skills in an older campaign, just with a new name ofcourse.

I wouldn't go that far (though Factions had some duplicates, that's true).

Yeah, i shouldn't have said most of the time. There are a good number of skills that have the same effects though. Like Zojun's Haste and the Ranger's sprint skill in Nightfall that operates exactly the same way. Granted I'M NOT COMPLAINING, i like the fact that i could build a runner character that can hold 25-33% speed constantly!  There has been one question on my mind ever since prophecies and thats the Droknar's Run build. Can anyone share a successful build for that run?
